Our Te Awamutu RSA Women’s Section is a sub section of the Te Awamutu RSA. The Woman's section meet regularly at the RSA Clubrooms and formally meet on the following occasions:
> The First Thursday of the month for Morning Tea and a casual catchup at 10am
> The Second Thursday of the month for our Monthly General Meeting at 1.30pm
> The Fourth Thursday of the month is our Committee Meeting at 10.30am (Committee Only)
Our Woman's Section often organizes days out for excursions to places of interest to visit.
This section also gets more involved in volunteer work which involves raising funds for various community groups and charities. The Woman's Section also offer support to our Veterans, their spouses and dependents.
Most of our own in house fundraising we do is done through raffles. We sell these at our monthly meeting and there are two draws each month. We also run a Women’s Section Bar Raffle within the RSA itself, which goes on a specified week and is drawn 4 to 5 times a year.
The Women’s Section’s at it's busiest leading up to Anzac Day, and our busiest day of the year is Poppy Day. Prior to this day we are busy counting all the poppies and pin each one. We ask permission from places of business if we can pin up posters or set up a stall outside their premises. We also prepare and print the rosters for our volunteers to complete.
Once you have become a member of our Te Awamutu RSA, you can then join our Women’s Section should you choose too, for a nominal fee of $10 per annum.
